(More customer reviews)The Optoma DS317 DLP Multimedia Projector lives up to its marketing materials. It is simple and easy to use, projects a clear image in small or medium-sized rooms and has the lumens to be seen in a moderately bright room. (I haven't tried it in a large hall yet). The price is fantastic for small business owners, teachers and others who have to operate on a tight budget, yet you still get more than you paid for. People who travel light may find that its 11"l x 8"w x 3.5"h size is a little large for them, however I found that it fits very well in a wheeled backpack-style carrier, fitting nicely right along with my laptop. A small downside, the projector relies on an "on-screen command" to adjust the size of the image on the wall rather than an easy to use slide or roller wheel. That is a small matter and not a big detractor. The lense cap has very small pronged clips and I wonder how long they're going to last. Let's end on a positive: the fan system is excellent and cools the projector quickly after power off.
This is a great multimedia projector and I recommend it for anyone with basic business and education projection needs. It may be great for entertainment and home theater, however I haven't put it through those paces. I suspect it would do quite well.
