This tends to get a bit dry at times, focusing too much on the landscape and giving a bit too much info about minute details that don't show us much about Ibsen; however, it was great for introducing high school students to the context in which Ibsen lived.

'Drawing on old maps, contemporary drawings and paintings, portraits and other archive material, the excellent Famous Authors series not only presents a factual outline of the writers lives, but also conveys a clear visual picture of the social and historical background to their writing. Recommended for all ages.' THE GOOD BOOK GUIDE Norwegian-born playwright Henrik Ibsen is considered one of the most influential writers of the post-Romanticism era. Although early on he studied to become a pharmacist and later a physician, his pursuits turned to writing and he traveled extensively in Europe where he staged numerous plays to much public acclaim. His work examines themes such as morality, social class issues, social reform, and liberation found in works such as A Doll's House and An Enemy of the People. His works are still popular productions for stage and screen.
