Camp Chef 120-Inch Portable Outdoor Movie Theater Big Screen Review

Camp Chef 120-Inch Portable Outdoor Movie Theater Big Screen

Received my screen and used it for the first time last weekend. This is much better quality than I expected and much much better than my neighbors blow up screen. No noisy fans. Also the frame is made of heavy duty steel. This would hold up to very strong winds. The screen was also much better than most blow ups I have seen. The screen has a slight reflection and black backing. The picture showed up great even before it was dark. I will be recommending this to all my friends.

I've used these brackets many times to hang screens for some pretty discerning folks, they are always a hit.
The color is neutral, they are sturdy and easy to mount with 2 fasteners for each. There's no template included, but it's easy to just hold up the bracket and mark the wall.
Always happy with Amazon's selection and service!

I was a little sceptical about getting this seeing how only one place locally sold it and seeing how it was so big, cheap and motorized all at the same time. The only other ones I could find like it would set me back at least $450. I bought this from a local store online and paid only $312 for it including expediated shipping and taxes. There was only 1 review I could find on this and it was good, just said minimal ripples as one of the only complaints. I pulled this monstrousity out of the box, had a little trouble mounting it, not due to the screen itself, but due to my wall and finding a stud. I just bought replacement stud screws and its hanging just fine. It lowers pretty slow, but that's not a problem but beware, this thing is huge. Much larger than I expected. The viewing size is right around 9 feet by 6 feet and the actual length of the base of the screen is every bit of 116-117 inches long, so keep that into consideration. I have a sony vplaw 15 set about 13 1/2 feet back and it uses up every inch of the screen and it is the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced. I'm very happy with this screen and don't think I could have landed a better deal, just wish it could have been bigger since my projector projects an amazing size from the distance that its set back at.

80IN Diagonal Manual Pull Down White 4:3 Projection Screen Review

80IN Diagonal Manual Pull Down White 4:3 Projection Screen
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have this screen on one wall in my office for presentations and collaborating with my team members.
The screen is sharp in the best senses of the word--the white metal casing looks great, the "pull down bar" feels solid and has good tension. The screen is reasonably well packaged in a 6 ft long box weighing 21 lbs and arrived without incident. The actual screen itself has a black border and a nice white surface. The wall brackets are strong and solid, mounting is very easy, though the directions are quite poor. I wasn't quite sure what to expect with mounting in my situation, where I have a window and some pictures behind the screen--but the included bracket offsets the screen from the wall about 2" which provides enough clearance.
The directions include words about attaching the screen to the ceiling, but I didn't try to figure out that as it didn't apply to my situation. The screen includes a small level which seemed too cheap to be trusted, but to my surprise, was accurate and consistent with my expensive levels. The inclusion of a level was a cool bonus. The wall mounts can be separately tweaked after securing to the wall, so if you're off a little, you can still get the screen perfectly level. A rail on the back of the screen lets you mount the brackets where you have studs--and it's easy enough to mount that one person can do it alone.
So build quality is great--and the screen shows a great image as well with my low-end 4:3 projector. To top it off, this screen is inexpensive--I paid less than $1 per inch of screen.
The only downside is the "new plastic smell" that was nearly overpowering in my office (which is 25 x 14 ft) for the first few hours with the screen unrolled. I expect(hope) it will pass relatively quickly. Update - it took about 10 days for the smell to wear off, at a maximum (I was out of town for a few days; I left the screen open, and when I came back, the smell was gone).
Physically, the header is a little under 70" wide and from the top of the header to the bottom of the handle is 54". I would recommend clearances of 72" x 56" to comfortable mount this screen.
If you're on the market for a 80" 4:3 screen, I strongly recommend this one.

Elite Screens Manual Pull Down Projection Screen, 16:9 Aspect Ratio-84in (Matte White) Review

Elite Screens Manual Pull Down Projection Screen, 16:9 Aspect Ratio-84in (Matte White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
NOTE: This model is widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. This is not mentioned in the product description. (Wrong screen is pictured.)
Now, let me just say in response to all who are complaining about not being able to retract the screen... be patient, and read the instructions. These complainers are most likely from those who have never used a projector screen before. It is admittedly tricky at first, but it takes a little practice. It's a bit more complicated than retracting a simple window shade, but it only needs the right technique. Once you got it down you will truly be happy with this screen.
Now on to the quality. It is obviously not the best out there, but comparing it with other screens costing thousands of dollars this particular brand of screens are an absolute bargain. If paired with a nice projector (I personally use the excellent high definition Panasonic AE700) you will get a most pleasant and film-like picture. The mild texture of the screen does add some tiny sparkling hot-spots, but they are so microscopic in comparison to the enormous size of the rest of the screen, and so subtle, you won't ever be distracted by them. Most importantly, the brightness is impressively uniform throughout. The contrast was also quite impressive for a white, non high-contrast screen. For the price, I was expecting a dull, and washed out image, but to my shock, it performed admirably. There is a definite and obvious increase in both light output, detail, and contrast when using this screen in comparison with a plain wall. On drywall the blacks wash out to a very dull gray and much detail is lost. So in that respect, this screen does it's job, and does it well.
The build quality is average, about what you'd expect at this price point. The screen tends to curve at the edges (right where the black border meets the white part of the screen), but at this price, it might not bother most people. And since it only curves at the masked edge, you will not notice any distortion when watching movies. More expensive screens have tension wires connected to the edges to keep the screen perfectly straight by using gravity to keep the screen stretched horizontally. These are commonly found on electric projector screens. Again, at this price point, the judgement call is yours.
Installation takes careful planning, as projector screens can be quite heavy, and this one does have some heft to it. Be sure to buy good strong hardware and appropriate screws and anchors. Keep in mind that when pulling down on the screen, you create more weight load on your wall. I opted to suspend the screen from its end loops, suspended by hooks attached to 'L' brackets on the wall. This is probably the best way to install your screen. I probably wouldn't trust mounting it by the keyholes in the back of the housing. This area does not look very durable to my eyes and it's only made of plastic.
In conclusion I'll be honest and say that when it comes to projector screens, you definitely get what you pay for. But in the case of Elite brand screens, they are much better than most people think and are perfectly adequate for home theater on a budget, and are perfect for those who are just starting on their first front projection home theater. As for the retracting issue, all I can say is be patient. You'll quickly pick up the technique and will be retracting the screen with ease in no time. It's actually quite easy once you get the hang of it.

Item delivered by UPS. Red lettering says it left the warehouse in perfect condition. By the time it reached me the box had been retaped and was either a used screen or damaged during shipment. Sent it back and ordered another. Next one delivered with a huge dent in it. UPS determined that the packaging is inadequate. Be warned! -to send it back, UPS wants to charge you half of what the screen costs. If I had to do it over again, I would run from these guys. There's a reason it's so cheap. Screen itself is wavy and does not seem to hang properly. You get what you pay for with this one. Lesson learned.

After battling with a 120-inch tripod screen, my family decided to give this EZ Cinema screen a try. Let's just say the tripod battles are over! We do plan to move things around our family room in the future, so we definitely wanted a portable-style screen in the first place.
We simply can't say enough about this item - the screen set-up time is right around 30 seconds flat. Seriously. The black "bottom" is made of very sturdy aluminum-type material, and we simply leave the "bar" sitting on the floor at all times. The two little "feet" swing out for more support, four suitcase-style snaps are opened, two support bars are easily inserted into the back base area, and you pull the screen up. That's all there is to it! Now we have awesome 150-inch images in our family room with ultimate ease.
Though made by the same company, we think this 150-inch screen has a better image than the tripod one did. HD is amazing, but even SD images or DVDs from our projector are breathtaking. Couple that with the ultra-easy set-up (and take-down), and we're happy campers! Bravo, Elite Screens!
P.S. Just keep in mind the measurements for this item - it's a LOOOOOOONG piece of equipment! We actually brought it in through a family room window, as it was far too long for swinging around doorways and such in our house.

FAVI 16:9/82-Inch Electric Projector Screen (HD-82) Review

FAVI 16:9/82-Inch Electric Projector Screen (HD-82)
Average Reviews:

A few months back we recently purchased a couple Favi electric projector screens online. Honestly never heard of them but we decided to give it a shot because of their money back guarantee...We were really impressed with how the screen performed. I have used all different screen companies for our systems but the motor in the favi's def runs the smoothest of any we ever installed.

Setup: Straight forward instructions. What we really liked was the built-in mounting brackets for both wall and ceiling mounting. Made life a little bit easier allowing for a quick ceiling or wall installation depending on the customer requirement.
Operation: Pretty standard for this type of electric screen with up/down/stop buttons on the main controller and each of the remotes. Pleased it came with both an Infrared Remote (allows you to program to a universal remote) and a RF Remote (goes through walls, allows you to keep the main controller box out of site)
Motor: Smooth/Quiet
Tension: Obviously not a tension screen but motor and a slightly weighted bottom bar perform very nicely together. We all agreed with Favi's assertion that there is no reason to spend extra money on a tension screen.
Material: Gain seemed on par or slightly better than the Elite VMAX and Da-Lite we typically useIR and RF Remote Operation: Standard, no complaints. Really nice it included 2 remote controls.Warranty: Typical 1 year warranty Overall Value: Excellent
Coming from an Audio/Video systems integrator, I highly recommend the favi for anyone looking to purchase an electric projector screen.

Optoma 84-Inch Panoview Manual Pull-Down Screen (Matte White) Review

Optoma 84-Inch Panoview Manual Pull-Down Screen (Matte White)
Average Reviews:

Got excited to find this screen shipped at such a good price. Received brand new in factory perfect box. Well packed. The box and screen are labeled "Panoview". The hanging components are the same of some other "no name" brand that I found on eBay. Still price was cheaper than eBay. The screen material feels like rubberized, so I guess you can make good on cleaning with a damp cloth. The screen has a 2" black frame literally painted on top of the screen. The screen material is thick, so it doesn't feel like it will tear easily. It reminds me of the plastic used to cover a picnic table. The mechanism makes it easy to pull down and fix it at any length you want. It will stay. My problem has been to find an easy way of making it roll up all the way. I found that the easiest way to store, is to pull the screen all the way out, give it a quick tug and let it roll quickly, keeping control of the pull-handle at all times so it doesn't crash at the top. For me it was very easy to install hanging from the ceiling. You can also fasten to a wall by putting two screws almost all the way. The plastic end covers of the screen have slots that lock on the screw heads. Image reflection from my Infocus X1 looks good from many angles, even during daylight but no direct sun. An affordable screen is what I was looking for and I can live with it. I would spend more money on a better screen, if this was not my first home theater "system".

Elite Screens Manual Pull Down Projection Screen, 16:9 Aspect Ratio-100in (Matte White)

I've had this screen installed for a few days now, I've unravelled and contracted it several times and it seems to be fluid and sturdy. (I was weary after reading several reviews on a similar screen that said it was frail and broke quickly) But so far it seems to work fine. Installation was a royal pain, as the studs in my ceiling are almost impossible to find or non-existent. Nevertheless, I did some weight tests and I think it should definitely be secure.
As "Movie Buff" from Nashville states, yes... the screen bar is actually a slight off-white, but I think it is for the better, as I have eggshell walls and when rolled back up (or when rolled out) it blends into the wall... with dim lights, the most noticeable aspect is the black frame around the screen which works great with bleed over the edges from your projector. The color produced seems great, although I have little to compare it to and of course it also depends on the integrity of your projector.
There is very slight "ripple" effect from the screen being tightened to the pulldown bar... only most noticeable when there is scrolling horizontal text in the movie - which doesn't happen that often - and even then, it is not anything to cry about.
So... as of now, I am giving this 4 stars. Should it fail sometime in the coming months I will update my review, but as of now I have nothing too negative to say about this screen.

I recently replaced my manual pull down Accuscreen with the Favi fixed. On first inspection during installation I noticed a separating of the pleat where one of the rods go to help support the tension of the screen. Truthfully I nearly sent the screen back because of this!
I figured since it was here, I might as well give it a try and see if the Favi was worth saving. Well I'm happy to report the screen turned out to work well with my projector. I wasn't expecting the gain this screen has. I know it says 6 gain, but I find that a little unrealistic, maybe a lot unrealistic! lol
It does have a tremendous amount of gain though. My Accuscreen was 1.1, this has to be at least 2.0 or more..I'm guessing. Brightness as well as my contrast and colors had to be adjusted on the projector because the screen does have plenty of gain. The viewing angle is excellent for a screen with this much gain. The claims of 175 degrees off axis seem true to my eyes.
Up until I began searching for an inexpensive fixed screen, I had never heard of this company. After contacting Favi, I was pleasantly surprised with how great their customer service was. They sent me a replacement screen ASAP without question. For the money this is a very nice unit. The frame will last forever! If you want to use your favorite screen material in place of the standard screen, this could be a very good way to go. You may find that you are happy with the results of the standard screen and not worry about changing the material to something else.

I've had this screen up for a few weeks and I'm extremely pleased with it. Prior to this, I was using some white Roc-lon "project fabric" from the fabric store which was working well. But I wanted a motorized mount to allow easy access to the area behind the screen. I was pleasantly surprised that the picture quality was improved compared to my DIY version.
It's really a great product for the money. Actually, even if you spend more to get a better screen, the "better" screens also usually come with more limitations, such as limited viewing positions and projector placement options. For example, some screens require the project to be table mounted for the best reflection to the viewers. With this unit, I've got my Panasonic PT-AX100U mounted on the ceiling and it works excellent. There are no hot-spots and the picture looks great from any viewing angle, sitting or standing. So the bottom line is that this screen is perfect for my needs and it's just a bonus that it is affordable as well.
