Camp Chef 120-Inch Portable Outdoor Movie Theater Big Screen Review

Camp Chef 120-Inch Portable Outdoor Movie Theater Big Screen
Average Reviews:

Received my screen and used it for the first time last weekend. This is much better quality than I expected and much much better than my neighbors blow up screen. No noisy fans. Also the frame is made of heavy duty steel. This would hold up to very strong winds. The screen was also much better than most blow ups I have seen. The screen has a slight reflection and black backing. The picture showed up great even before it was dark. I will be recommending this to all my friends.

InFocus IN26+ DLP Projector XGA 2400 Lu Review

There is one major thing that you need to do if you buy this product and that is upgrade to the latest firmware on the infocus website. The firmware that comes with it isn't nearly as good as the one they just released. Overall, for the money you can't go wrong with this projector. It has a decent resolution for a projector in the price range, and the 2200 lumens are more than enough. I keep mine on low power mode all the time and it still runs at 1700 lumens. There is nothing like watching movies on a 120' flat screen! I guess if there was a problem with this product it would be the noise. On low power mode it isn't really noticeable, but on high power, unless you have a movie with sound going, you are going to notice it. I personally love how much they have come down in price. This just last year would have cost me over 1200 dollars easy and now they're finally affordable. I recommend this product.

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 Home Theater Projector Review

Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 1080 Home Theater Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros
- Under $3000!
- VERY easy to set up.
- Well-designed, backlit remote.
- ZERO screen-door effect from real viewing distances.
- Relatively bright (even in theater mode).
- Excellent performance.
Cons
- Blacks could be a little deeper.
- No vertical stretch (only an issue if you're looking to do CIH).
- Menu navigation a little sluggish when using a universal remote.
Being the first 1080p projector under $3000, the Epson Home Cinema 1080 arrived with a lot of hype and anticipation. I bought into that hype, and as a result I was among the first to pick up one of these bad boys the day it came out. Prior to the Epson, I had owned two different 720p HD projectors- a Sanyo Z4 and a Panasonic AX-100U. The Sanyo produced a super-sharp, noise-free picture, but I found the visible pixelation too distracting at close viewing distances. The Panasonic doesn't have that problem as it utilizes Smoothscreen technology to reduce screen-door effect, but it also results in a noticeably softer image. The Epson, on the other hand, is capable of projecting a sharp AND pixel-free image (both undoubtedly thanks to the 2 million pixels afforded by 1080p). The Epson also performs surprisingly well out the box, and after a simple calibration I found that it can deliver even more vivid and accurate color. Black level is the one area where I feel this projector is lacking. For deep, DLP-like blacks you would have to shell out another grand or two for a higher-end model like the JVC RS-1. What I did though was paint my own screen, using a special DIY mix designed to boost contrast and improve black level performance, and voila! I'm looking at a beautiful picture with much darker and convincing blacks. Summing up, the Epson is a killer deal, and for under $3000 I honestly couldn't be happier. If you haven't experienced HD front-projection before, I would advise you to go with a 720p model first as prices are tumbling and you can pick up a pretty decent model for around $1000. If you're looking to jump from 720p to the next level, and you watch a lot of HD DVD, Blu-ray, or other high-res HD material, then this is the projector for you. Highly recommended!

Mitsubishi HC1500 720p DLP Home Theater Projector Review

Mitsubishi HC1500 720p DLP Home Theater Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The HC1500 is a very nice projector, especially for the price. I upgraded from an InFocus Screenplay DLP Front Projector - SP4805. By comparison, the HC1500 is much brighter, quieter, and more crisp. It also fit my existing ceiling mount, which was very convenient.
The only problem I've not found a fix for is the aspect ratio selection. The SP4805 was native 16:9, but also had a mode for 4:3, and another which cropped a 4:3 picture to 16:9 and enlarged it to fill the whole screen. This mode was really nice for TV broadcasts and old DVDs filmed in 16:9 but broadcast in 4:3 with black bars. Without that zoomed/cropped mode, you have to watch it in 4:3 mode, so you see the black bars both on the sides of the screen and then again on the top and bottom. This means you're basically looking at an image 2/3 the size of your screen.
As far as I can tell, the HC1500 does not have an aspect mode that works well with this problem. It is also native 16:9, and has the following aspect modes; auto (which as far as I can tell is identical to 16:9 regardless of input signal), 4:3, 4:3 stretched to 16:9 (with serious distortion on the left and right sides), and two zooms. The user's guide says the two zooms are optimized for cinemascope and vista images with subtitles, but they don't expand the projected area out to take advantage of the better screen/picture aspect ratio match. Instead it simply crops the image within the 4:3 display boundary and leaves the black bars on the sides. This is very annoying when watching 16:9 TV show (broadcast non-HD) because your picture is miniaturized and surrounded by unused black bar screen area. The show is being broadcast specifically to fill your whole screen, but the projector leaves bars on all 4 sides of the image.
I don't understand why Mitsubishi omitted that feature, it seems requisite these days. The fine print in the user's guide does mention that zoom modes will make the image of a 480i signal smaller. Again, it looks fine when you have 480p input, which I only get from my DVD player, or a native 4:3 TV 480i input (normal TV). And the picture is fantastic with both.
Overall I'm happy with this machine, especially for the price and bright HD picture. But if anyone has a work around for the aspect issue, I'd love to hear it.

Forget the mere 70 inches of even large flat-panel displays, the HC1500 DLP Projector lets you project a high definition image hundreds of inches large. With its quiet operation and huge, beautiful picture, the HC1500 could make your home cinema the envy of all your neighbors.
True HD Images The HC1500 DLP projector projects video in a native 720p format so you get a highly detailed HD picture that looks crisp even at large sizes. It features Texas Instruments BrilliantColor, which utilizes a seven-segment color wheel and an algorithm that enables brighter mid-tones and more realistic color. The HC1500 also offers 1600 ANSI lumens of brightness and a 2500:1 contrast ratio. Depending on the size of your room, you can project the image from 40 inches to 275 inches diagonal. The HC1500 has a lamp life of 3000 hours in low mode and 2000 hours in bright mode.
Pure Connection From Source to Screen The HC1500 has HDMI 1.2 and component cable connections to ensure a pure input signal from beginning to end. With 10-bit processing, the information is unsullied and the result is a pure image on the screen.
Be advised that this projector (as with most projectors) does not include a tuner; to watch television, you need to provide a television signal, either through an external tuner or a cable box.
Easy Set Up and Quiet Operation At just 6.5 pounds, the HC1500 is easy to transport and move around in your home theater room, and it has both vertical and horizontal digital keystone correction that makes it easy to mount on the ceiling or place on a table. The HC1500 operates at a quiet 25dBA that won't distract you while you're enjoying movies or television. A 12-volt Trigger jack allows the projector to control a compatible motorized screen. A remote control with backlit buttons is included.
The HC1500 is backed by a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty, and a 90-days lamp warranty.
What's in the Box HC1500 projector, AC power cable, RGB cable, RS-232C cable, remote unit with battery, light shade cover, quick start card, user's manual, and safety manual.

InFocus LP70+ Mobile DLP Video Projector Review

InFocus LP70+ Mobile DLP Video Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Projectors have shrunk both in size and price; This unit is the perfect example.
The Ultra-portable InFocus LP70+ is less than $1900. It boasts 1,400 lumens, 4,000 hour lamp, VGA (1024 x 768) resolution, 2.4 lbs, 2.58 x 6.1 x 7.8 (90% of the size of a cigar box), keystone correction of 15 degrees, 22.2' max image size, 1 watt built-in speaker, 120-240 volts, 1100:1 contrast and a 2 year warranty.
When ordered through Amazon.com/JR Music World, there is a $50 discount and no sales tax (outside of NY) for a savings of nearly $200. Total price before shipping: $1,873.33.
InFocus and other manufacturers have other even smaller models but they are not as bright. The LP 70+ provide the most bang for the buck. You can find less-expensive projectors ($799, $899) but they will be SVGA (800 x 600) resolution (fuzzy).
Many hotels charge $500/day for LCD projectors. Meeting planners will love to hear you can supply your own projection equipment.
I have used a Proxima x350 for the past three years. It is a great projector but the LP 70+ is much brighter and much smaller. I use my projector four to five times a week; I fly 4,000 miles/week. Weight and volume are major issues. The LP 70+ is more than a pound lighter and significantly smaller. Whether you are designing parachutes or carrying luggage, weight and volume are of great concern. Search for the smallest and lightest equipment.
I love the LP 70+; you will too.

Title of the review says it all...connected this with via HDMI my onkyo receiver with AppleTV, MOXI DVR, Panasonic BluRay, and Xbox360 and all I can say is that this projector is nothing short of spectacular. AMAZING picture, SUPER SUPER CLEAR when projected on a high quality, low/no-gain white projector screen and an HDMI input. No noise, no issues, just 100% awesome. I also have this projector ceiling mounted and it mounts to a universal mount with no issues. I've got about 147" picture projecting on a 150" screen (had to mount the projector a few inches more forward than I wanted to because of stud locations) and the picture is breathtaking. BluRay discs look increadible along with HDTV from the Moxi DVR box.
I DID have to fight with it a little bit to get my receiver to communicate with the projector, more of a receiver issue but wish the projector's software was a little more sophisticated to be able to receive signals from a receiver a little easier with less set up from my end. Eventually got the onkyo receiver to send a picture once I reset all settings, and cut the power to all components and let it sit for a while to clear it all out. Again, if the software/firmware on the projector was a little more sophisticated, the initial setup would have been easier.
Overall, just a pheneomonlly awesome projector. My guess is since the price keeps going down day by day that viewsonic plans to replace this with a newer model. My thought is to go ahead and get this one new for a steal of a price at around $1100. Nothing can beat it for the price. I believe this was originally a $5,000 projector back in 2007, and would probably still be worth it today.

Optoma EP719 DLP Portable Projector 2000
Average Reviews:

I found this projector to be the Best Bang for the Buck after comparison shopping with all the different brands available. Comparing 2500:1 contrast ratio, 2000 ANSI lumens, 16x9 aspect ratio, up to 300 inches screen size projection (huge), 720p or 1080i (high def. DLP), easy set-up, multi connectivity and compatibility for under 1 grand is remarkable while other brand doesn't even come close. Ofcourse there are better specs. projectors out there but be ready to pay more. The higher the contrast ratio and ANSI lumens the better.
To enjoy the full potential of a 1080i picture (movie theater experience minus the annoying person behind you) you need to connect an HD source or an upconverting DVD like Samsung ($130) and a surround sound system. Soon you'll look forward to every Friday & Saturday movie nights at home with the kids and a big smile on your face.

This projector has been great for doing classroom presentations from my laptop. It's very bright (2500 lumens) and alot less expensive than other models. The three negitives are:
1. There's no HDMI input, so this wouldn't be the best projector for a home theater setup.
2. The resolution is limited to SVGA, perfect for business presentations but there are better options for watching movies.
3. The feet used for adjusting the height and tilt of the projector are cheaply made and hard to adjust.
But all of these are a small sacrifice for an affordable projector this bright. It's so bright I can leave the classroom lights on without washing out the image.

Epson PowerLite S3 LCD Projector Review

Epson PowerLite S3 LCD Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a good product. I especially liked the design and convenient menu. Very easy to use and good picture quality. Two things I did not like about this projector: (1) no optical zoom and (2) only 800by600 resolution. This is not a problem if you plan to place the projector close to the screen, such that your image is not very large. In my case I wanted to project images on a wall in my living room (which is about 14 inches long) and mount the projector next to the opposite wall. It did not work. The image size was huge and the image quality was not so good. I could see separate pixels and it was very annoying. You can decrease the image size digitally, but it does not improve the image quality.
I ended up returning this projector and ordering Epson Powerlite 76C LCD instead. Couldn't be happier. 76C has all the same features + 1024by768 resolution and optical zoom. Definitely worth additional $250!

This projector works great; easy set up, clear picture, simple controls, and even easy keystone adjustment. The one thing I didn't expect was to hear it. If you're getting it for powerpoint presentations, it may be a little loud. I use it for videos so the volume of the video overpowers the projector, but I was disappointed because I do also use it in a small classroom setting where it would be nice if I couldn't hear it. I don't know Dbs, but it's louder than I had hoped. The Decibals weren't listed in the specs. That would've been nice.

I was nervous about spending a thousand dollars on an item I didn't know much about, but now that I've had this projector for a month I consider it worth every penny.
The picture is great, and the projector offers every control and setting in an intuitive fashion. The only thing I don't understand is why it has the swivel base, that seems like a useless feature, but hey, one extra feature is better than one too few.
I've used the projector with game systems, my computer, and of course just in DVD mode. All were set up in less than a minute (the DVD in seconds). I think even grandma and grandpa could get this thing working without the instruction book.
I use it to play movies on my wall at home and the video and audio quality is great, and it's amazing to have a big screen right there in the living room or bedroom just by having moved some pictures around.
The only think I caution you on is to make sure you get the "US" version, there is an international version floating around that apparently has a 90 hour "demo" bulb rather than the standard 3000 hour bulb. Also the warranty is 90 days rather than a year.

I wrote a scathing review of my experience in purchasing this product, at first, when Electronics Expo, the Amazon-vendor, would not accept a return on this product. My decision to return it was based immediately on observing the "screen door" appearance (resolution)compared to another DLP model a friend let me borrow and try. Also, the zoom feature wasn't as good. Having said that, though, the convenience of this design, with the DVD player and sound built in, is a very nice thing, and in the end, I decided to keep it and make use of it for that reason alone. I also got an email and phone number from Electronics Expo trying to make good on the deal. The rep was reachable by phone, and tried to make me happy. I recommended they find a way to say "you may not return this item if you purchase it" show up somewhere on the cart check-out page before you click "complete purchase." My wife bought this as an anniversary gift. Although it is a no name product, it works very well. The picture looks great. I attached my laptop and used the HDMI port. It won't change over to 16:9 with HDMI. The only way that I got 16:9 was the computer putting the movie in letterbox. When I hook it up to a BluRay player, I have no option on the projector for 16:9. It cuts off the sides to maintain 4:3. OnVon, the maker of the projector, gave up trying to help me. They don't see it as a problem. They just stopped answering my emails.
