(I'm only in my late 20's but it used to be overhead projectors :P)
I use this projector every week and it works great~!
Features that I liked:
- Easy to see labels to show which VGA belongs where and etc.
- You can turn the projector to sleep mode just simply by closing the lid, and when you open the lid again it shoots the screen real quick.
- It's sleek and good looking for a projector.
- Very quiet, I don't hear any annoying fan noise.
- Very simple to use.
- Great color! Love showing Movie Clips and Keynotes on them.
You can't go wrong with this projector, and I think it's the best one out there for this price range.

(More customer reviews)I was a little sceptical about getting this seeing how only one place locally sold it and seeing how it was so big, cheap and motorized all at the same time. The only other ones I could find like it would set me back at least $450. I bought this from a local store online and paid only $312 for it including expediated shipping and taxes. There was only 1 review I could find on this and it was good, just said minimal ripples as one of the only complaints. I pulled this monstrousity out of the box, had a little trouble mounting it, not due to the screen itself, but due to my wall and finding a stud. I just bought replacement stud screws and its hanging just fine. It lowers pretty slow, but that's not a problem but beware, this thing is huge. Much larger than I expected. The viewing size is right around 9 feet by 6 feet and the actual length of the base of the screen is every bit of 116-117 inches long, so keep that into consideration. I have a sony vplaw 15 set about 13 1/2 feet back and it uses up every inch of the screen and it is the most beautiful thing I've ever experienced. I'm very happy with this screen and don't think I could have landed a better deal, just wish it could have been bigger since my projector projects an amazing size from the distance that its set back at.

(More customer reviews)After battling with a 120-inch tripod screen, my family decided to give this EZ Cinema screen a try. Let's just say the tripod battles are over! We do plan to move things around our family room in the future, so we definitely wanted a portable-style screen in the first place.
We simply can't say enough about this item - the screen set-up time is right around 30 seconds flat. Seriously. The black "bottom" is made of very sturdy aluminum-type material, and we simply leave the "bar" sitting on the floor at all times. The two little "feet" swing out for more support, four suitcase-style snaps are opened, two support bars are easily inserted into the back base area, and you pull the screen up. That's all there is to it! Now we have awesome 150-inch images in our family room with ultimate ease.
Though made by the same company, we think this 150-inch screen has a better image than the tripod one did. HD is amazing, but even SD images or DVDs from our projector are breathtaking. Couple that with the ultra-easy set-up (and take-down), and we're happy campers! Bravo, Elite Screens!
P.S. Just keep in mind the measurements for this item - it's a LOOOOOOONG piece of equipment! We actually brought it in through a family room window, as it was far too long for swinging around doorways and such in our house.

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this PJ elsewhere (not at Amazon) for $1149. This is my third digital PJ and the best unit so far. I started out about 12 years ago with the old heavy CRT beast. CRT is a rapidly dying breed and the pix quality has improved with digital PJ's they are no longer worth the hassle (IMO).
The new Epson is much brighter then my old Panny PTL 500u (800 lums)which I'm replacing. Sharper cleaner pix with more detail in black areas as well as brighter areas. Blacks are very good with HD and good quality SD sources but not with so so quality SD (most cable channels). HD and full bandwidth off air SD look great! Blacks are as good as some low end DLP (under $2000)units with the dark chip 3. You won't get the inky like blacks but will not be a distraction from movie either.
If you need to offset from center this is the unit for you. You can set the lens shift one full pix up or down and about the same side to side. You will need to sit about 1.2x screen size back to avoid seeing the pixel structure better know as SDE. I have a 100" screen and pixels began to disappear about 10 to 11 feet back (102" to 132")thus the 1.2x.
Epson has great reputation for quality products and gives you a 2 year warranty if needed. I loved my Panny but with Panasonics ax100U issues I just can't go with the Panny this time. I hope the 200u has been fixed but I'm not going to gamble with $1300 plus.
If you are like me and can see DLP rainbows then I highly recommend this unit. The only somewhat negative about this unit is the fan can be heard when not in low power cinema mode but does not disturb viewing experience. In low power (cinema modes) unless unit is right by your ear you probably never know it's on. The high power mode is a little less noisy then a computer fan to give you some idea. If you have forced air heat (I do) then the air rushing from the ducts will make more noise then this PJ in high power mode. Could use a second HDMI input.
The picture quality and brightness is superb and you'll be very happy with the quality of this unit. You may also want to look at the Sanyo Plv z5 for it has good reviews but is much dimmer then this unit. In a light controlled room that should not be an issue. Reviews by the so called experts put this unit near the top of the LCD pack and Epson customer service is by far better then Panasonic. Sanyo I have never had to deal with so can't say .
This is one of the better 720p PJ's on the market at present and you'll be happy with the PQ of this unit.

(More customer reviews)I spent considerable time comparing projectors and arrived at this one. The reason I bought this projector over a TV is because I move often and wanted large screen quality with portability. I read a comment, and I agree, that projectors in the personal price range will never equal HD TVs in terms of overall quality, and bought this expecting such.
The reason I chose this projector was because of the portability and the brightness. As a DLP it is naturally much lighter compared LCD counterparts, and the brightness is needed due to predicted use in lighted rooms. It is very light and I was able to easily carry it in my backpack although it is a little bulky. The brightness is not as satisfying as I thought but it is still easily visible in medium ambient light situations.
Also worth noting is that compared to several other projectors in this category I did not find many angry customers with serious short term or long term problems with this projector.
Pros: Easy setup (connected HDMI cable to my PC and it recognized it without any assistance (os: vista)), easy interface, sliding lens cover, nice adjustable height bar, plenty of various inputs, very quiet (I sit immediately next to it to watch movies and don't notice it)
Cons: Came with only component cables (but I expected this and bought my own hdmi cables), only 1 HDMI and 1 DVI port, not as bright as I hoped, no quick-key on remote or body for volume
Note: Super-ultra-bright remote (I cannot stress enough how bright this thing gets when in use, you can probably use it as a flashlight) but do not see this as pro or con
Overall experience: I use this projector mainly for gaming with my xbox360 and movies with my PC and have been very happy with the quality on each.

Aosom 100" Electric Hdtv Projector Screen 87"x49"-White Case Review

(More customer reviews)Works great in my home theater. However it is probably my own stupidity but I assumed the measurements given (87" x 49") were for the entire product. This is not the case it is only for the white part of the screen. Being that I had a 90in space to fit it in I was looking for something 90ins or less. The casing comes in at around 109 inches. Well two homemade brackets later and the screen is awesome. the screen moves up and down quickly and the motor is not too loud. I did notice that the sides are starting to curve in but it is not effecting the actual projection surface. Putting it up was fairly simple there are two screw holes like you would find on a wall shelf. I put it up in a few minutes (after figuring out the size issue) with some help form an extra pair of hands.

Optoma HD80 1080p Home Theater Projector Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this projector to replace my Optoma HD70. I have a room in my house as a designated theater with the screen, chairs, sound, lighting..you name it. I thought this would be an easy install. I was so wrong! Here is the problem...Unless you have the space to mount the projector around 2 feet above or two feet below the top/bottom of the screen, this projector is totally useless! You can't mount it at screen height or even just slightly above/below. To read about this, go to the "projectorreviews" website. I wish I had read this ahead of time. I figured that since the throw ratio was correct for my room, I was all set. Not so...
Optoma seems to have made an excellent projector for the price based on image quality, color and inputs. But, don't make my mistake, do your research and make sure you have the clearances in your room to install this projector in the few places that it can be placed. As a side note (no pun intended), you need to be dead on straight with the screen because there is no horizontal keystoning at all. This wasn't a problem for me, but it will be for some people.
In the end, I would say this: The projector seems very good for the money, but since 75% of the potential buyers for this product will be sliced away because of placement issues, I would stay away from this one. If for no other reason than you may not be able to resell it after you want to upgrade. Remember, placement will be a problem then too! There are many other projectors that do not suffer from this that are in the same price range. I like Optoma for budget-minded home theater enthusients, but this one is off the mark for the average home.
PS - My local Best Buy store has this mounted in their Magnolia Home Theater Center. It doesn't work in there either. They can't hit the screen correctly because the screen is not low enough. If it is in mine, it might be in your's too, so go take a look.

BenQ MX511 DLP 3D Ready Black XGA Projector Review

Wanted a projector to replace my very old NEC SVGA one with hdmi for xbox gaming and dvd/etc in the basement and i am now projecting about a 5ft high image on a white painted wall. Was looking extensively for months, comparing lamp life, native output, etc, etc, and waiting for something acceptable at the price point i wanted. Found this one for $449, which was well below what i expected to pay, but there is no comprimise.
DVD quality was excellent as well. I played a few games of Black Ops standing up, and found myself trying to look around corners and up over things. For the price and with 3d ability(which i cannot comment on yet), i could not be happier. Colors are really good with a # of preset and configurable settings via the small remote. Audio is obviously not going to knock your socks off, as i haven't run it through the amp yet, but it is still more than acceptable. Kicks my upstairs HD toshiba picture actually. Great deal and no real compromise for an excellent viewing experience for those not 'needing' it to be the absolute best there is out there.

Samsung P400 DLP Lumen Pocket Ultraportable Projector (1.9 Pounds) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this as I often give presentations to small groups and wanted a "portable TV" when traveling. I was torn between this and the Dell M109S. I did a ton of research on both items and bought the Samsung in the end, even though it was $200 more. The Samsung is MUCH brighter, has sound, and can be bought from Amazon with its better customer service than Dell.
I used it to watch an entire movie with a group and they loved it. We projected it onto just the plain wall and the brightness was just fine with a lamp light turned on nearby. You won't be able to use it during broad daylight for a movie (presentation perhaps).
The thing I love about it is that it's on full brightness all the time! My friend bought a $1500 projector a while ago and he's always concerned about bulb time, the brightness level, etc. I don't have to worry about any of it. It's so refreshing to have a projector where you don't have to worry at all about conserving the bulb. It's a HUGE stress reliever. That's what you want in a portable projector, one that you can just pack and go and not worry about everytime you use. The bulb will last the lifetime of the projector.
Yeah, the 800*600 resolution isn't HD, but it's ok. It's good enough for presentations and movies. You're never going to use HD for presentations - putting up tons of text onto a screen will drive the audience crazy!
I carry the projector in my laptop bag with all its accessories. So in on medium size bag, I have my Dell M1210, the Samsung P400, and all the necessary wires and power. It's great!
The only negatives are that the power brick is huge! It's about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the projector. The second negative is the sound. I read reviews that the sound was decent, but it's only decent for presentations. But for movies, it's not the best... having a portable speaker would greatly help. I have the Logitech MM portable speaker which is great and tiny.
And oh! One huge thing that I hadn't read is that the Samsung has a tripod mound. The Dell does NOT. Because these projectors are so small, using a tripod greatly stabilizies the projector.

(More customer reviews)Just got the 100" version of this and installed it last night. Disappointed to find out that the texture on this screen is so rough that you can actually see it on the screen. It makes it look like the entire picture is being viewed through gauze. White areas are especially prone to this. Also, the screen is not correctly tensioned and has waves on the right side. I'm guessing I got what i paid for, since it was cheap. Buyer beware.

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 700 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector Review

(More customer reviews)This projector is fine if it were about $100 cheaper. They are charging an extra $100 or so because it supposedly can read memory cards or thumb drives and display JPG images without a computer.
Great idea. Unfortunately, the firmware that reads the cards or thumb drives is very primitive and full of bugs.
The default mode in Photoshop for outputting JPGs will not read on this projector! It will only read raw JPGs straight from a camera that have not been edited at all! Not very useful as far as I am concerned.
I spent a lot of time with Epson tech support and they confirmed the problem.
Amazon refused to support us in trying to return it. However, the seller did give us a refund of $70 which softened the pain.
If we knew it did not really work as advertised, we would have probably selected a different projector. As it is, it does work OK, but it needs a computer just like every other projector.

Bright enough for a sunny day (may washed out if you have direct sunlight coming in the room).Great contrast. Some reviewers have mentioned rainbow effects -I have yet to see. I have being using projectors in my home theater for over 4 years and this is the best (bargain) projector I have used.

(More customer reviews)Wow, no reviews on this! Ok, so I have not bought it from here, but I do own one of these. First of all, features, tech and the like 3 stars and the price, one extra star. So, this product is great, with drawbacks obviously.
1. I think it is really light compared to many other projectors of the same features and so makes it easier to carry around.
2. I live in a dorm, so the brightness is less of a problem, but obviously during the day time, you will be out of luck. Also, if you are considering it for 'home entertainment' then I'd recommend use of another projector since this one is not really that bright. But for a single normal room, it is ok.
3. The support for widescreen is awesome. Perfectly fits 1080p resolutions too, with 720p quality ofcourse.
4. Fits perfectly on the ceiling with a cool hybrid flip.
5: you might find that sometimes the noise can be a problem. It will be quite but will get loud after some time of using it.
6. The PRICE kills it :)
Hope this clears out a few questions.

(More customer reviews)Replaced my Mitsubishi MC900, HD65 plus is truly amazing product. We use it with Blue-Ray player with a 70" projector screen in our covered patio. The package comes with a backpack and we used it to carry the projector to our friends house to watch superbowl. The projector produced jaw dropping image. Needless to say, they plan to buy the Optima too. I don't think we will ever go back to our 42" plasma tv :)!!
Cons: The zoom range seems to be low. Overall, it is a great projector.

(More customer reviews)I just bought this projector after reading a review from projectcentral.com. I also just got a DirecTV HD DVR. I am projecting onto a 137" Dalite permawall screen in a light controlled room. The image quality with recent HD material is stunning. When looking at bright daylight images it looks like a window, with amazing detail. I am replacing an Infocus X1. I also had a Sanyo Z4 for about two weeks. The image from the Sanyo was too harsh because of the LCD (also I was sitting 1x the distance from the screen which should really be 2x for LCD's and 1.5x for DLP's).

Optoma HD65 720p DLP Home Theater Projector Review

I wanted a HD projector under 1000$
here's my review:
Pros:
-Colors are great and accurate. Skin tones looks natural.
-Contrast is very good.
-I'm seeing details in the dark areas.
-Almost silent projector. (fan is very quiet even in Bright mode).
-The image is really bright (1600 lumens)
-Image looks uniform (a bit of noise in the black levels but you can barely see it).
-All the inputs that you need (1 HDMI, 1 Component, 1VGA, 1Svideo, 1,Composite).Cons:
-The back light in the remote control is way to bright. It burn my eyes every time I'm using it. (not really helpful when you are trying to adjust the colors and contrast.
-No saturation control when using HDMI input.
-Zoom is really small ( you really need to know exactly how far from the screen to put it because you don't have that much room).
Other thoughts:
I would recommend using a gray matte surface screen if you're watching movies. I'm currently having a gray matte screen (elite silver max 16:9). However if you want to play games get matte white surface screen, its brighter.
Also I heard some peoples complaining about rainbow effect, but I haven't seen any.
Conclusion: If you are looking for a good 720P projector for watching movie and playing games its definitely a good projector to consider. The picture is great.
For under 1000$ you can't really go wrong.
I'm giving 5 stars because it does what I wanted with a good quality.
