Within minutes of opening the box and integrating into my existing sound and blue ray player system I was presented with the most amazing picture I have ever seen. To give you a comparison my 50 inch plasma 1080 HD looks like an analog computer screen in comparison. One of the reviewers said this projector is a good first projector, what he fails to mention is that a lot of us are replacing our first projector and to get the even close to the same performance, the first projector would have to have been a $14,000 projector. The first movie I watched on it was "Star Trek" and it was startling, as the picture in comparison to my old LCD projector, was just so amazing. While you can play with the color controls and contrast in more ways than I can count, the out of the box picture was brilliant and clear, and beautiful color but jaw dropping resolution. I looked at a lot of the reviews and I was looking for a $1000 projector that was still 1080. Limits the playing field . Maybe they all look this good, but I know I made the right choice. In the plus version, they increased the color wheel speed, supposedly 3X is the magic number not to have the rainbow affect, no experience with it and I did not see one here. There are some other tweaks in the plus but read the tech reviews for more detail.. all I can tell you is buy it.. and stop looking.. this has to be the best for the money. I plugged in our cable and the DVD player, as this has two HDMI slots, as well as a host of other options. I will be adding a long computer cable so I can hook up to the net via my lap top.. but TV looks amazing you can really tell the difference in the quality of the camera being used in live news broadcasts. While I have not delved to far into the menu, it seems easy to navigate. I immediately changed to the eco mode, just to save lamp life, and it is plenty bright. I have a calibration video that I intend to play with over the next few days to see what difference these changes would make. You can easily set up different user modes and call them up from the remote. But again the brilliant color option was outstanding. They have a neat grid pattern to help with focusing and a 3D color map but I have not accessed this one yet. If you like to fiddle with color this gives you amazing options for doing so.. but why mess with perfection. I guess the bottom line is, stop looking, this is it.
