InFocus X6 DLP Projector Review

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the picture from this projector. Being on the low-end price-wise I didn't expect the high-quality picture that it projected. I bought it for my 15-year old daughter to have movie parties with. It is also very simple to operate. The only downfall is that it only came with a cable to connect to a PC, but not a cable to connect to a DVD player (S-video to RCA) I had to order that separately since the stores (Radio Shack & Circuit City) do not carry it in stock.

Micro Professional Projector MPRO110 Review

Micro Professional Projector MPRO110
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you are considering the 3M MPRO110, my recommendation is that you fully understand your use and purpose as well as the limited capabilities of this product before you buy it. It is definitely NOT a replacement for the typical portable projector by any measure. It certainly looks impressive and is a very compact unit. It will suit the specific needs of some but generally does not compare well with the capabilities of other portable projectors.
In my situation I was only looking for a personal unit to use in my office in a darkened environment with a white projector screen and a laptop/notebook computer to display Windows WMV video files and Apple Quicktime MOV video files. It appears that the MPRO110 may meet my very minimal requirements since I will be the only one using it as a study aid. The picture at maximum distance, projects large enough (nearly as large as my 61" Sony rear projection TV) in my case, which may justify the use of the MPRO110. However what is displayed is not equivalent or even close to the original display output because the brightness and sharpness of the image are not sufficient for most purposes.
The good, the bad, the ugly:
1. The MPRO110 cable for PC/laptop/notebook connectivity is way TOO short and in my opinion should be at least 3ft-4ft in length.
2. The MPRO110 unit really does needs a stand or tripod to rest on at sufficient height to allow the greatest distance 1800mm (71") around 6ft, in order to achieve maximum picture size and to justify its actual use.
3. The MPRO110 power connector cable should have been at the back because it seems to keep pulling the unit off balance because of the short length of the VGA cable despite its own ability to swivel around at the contact point. The cables tend to make it hard to keep the unit flat on a surface.
4. Brightness of the MPRO110 is only marginally acceptable in a darkened room although it is reasonable to expect better than what it projects.
5. MPRO110 focus is limited and I found the focus control range and use to be not very acceptable.
6. The on off button and the focus control are small and that's OK but the plastics lack tactile feel and a nicer button or control using some hardened rubberized material that a user can grip more easily would be much better.
7. To insert, charge and use the battery a small screw must be removed to take the cover off and this is not documented in the Operators Guide or Quick Start Guide.
8. I like the display compatibility and support all the way up to WXGA but would love to see it provide at least 1280 x 1024 support or greater in the future. The Operators Guide does not show the support for WXGA as is displayed on the 3M website.
9. The 3M MPRO110 has an impressive form factor being extremely compact and lightweight.
10. Connecting and setting the MPRO110 is not difficult and it is easy to use.
The 3M MPRO110 is an excellent product in concept. It is very evident to anyone attempting to use the unit in its current implementation that there are significant shortcomings for usability. 3M obviously understands the need for a compact portable projector but the execution could have been so much better. With an enhanced engineering effort and greater output capability, a unit like this done right would have taken the projection market by storm. There is a very real and a very large demand for a unit like this that can deliver. 3M in my experience is a quality vendor, however this unit does not live up to the promise of what it should have been. It does have potential and I can only hope that 3M acknowledge its shortcomings by making substantial improvements to the next generation.

If you are looking to break into the 1080p projector territory, this is an excellent projector! I've had the chance to use my 6100 now for a few weeks, and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Image quality is fantastic, and the colors are great too (when configured correctly). I've been using mine with the HDMI output of a Harman Kardon AVR-254 7x50W 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver with HDMI 1.3a Repeater.
Pros:
* This sucker is BRIGHT. I am amazed at how nice it looks even with ambient light.
* Minimal screen door, as should be expected for a 1080p projector.
* The expanded color mode is beautiful, and works quite well.
* Contrast ratio is good, but don't believe the 18000:1. It is still remarkably good for a

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector Review

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 720 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector
Average Reviews:

I bought this PJ elsewhere (not at Amazon) for $1149. This is my third digital PJ and the best unit so far. I started out about 12 years ago with the old heavy CRT beast. CRT is a rapidly dying breed and the pix quality has improved with digital PJ's they are no longer worth the hassle (IMO).
The new Epson is much brighter then my old Panny PTL 500u (800 lums)which I'm replacing. Sharper cleaner pix with more detail in black areas as well as brighter areas. Blacks are very good with HD and good quality SD sources but not with so so quality SD (most cable channels). HD and full bandwidth off air SD look great! Blacks are as good as some low end DLP (under $2000)units with the dark chip 3. You won't get the inky like blacks but will not be a distraction from movie either.
If you need to offset from center this is the unit for you. You can set the lens shift one full pix up or down and about the same side to side. You will need to sit about 1.2x screen size back to avoid seeing the pixel structure better know as SDE. I have a 100" screen and pixels began to disappear about 10 to 11 feet back (102" to 132")thus the 1.2x.
Epson has great reputation for quality products and gives you a 2 year warranty if needed. I loved my Panny but with Panasonics ax100U issues I just can't go with the Panny this time. I hope the 200u has been fixed but I'm not going to gamble with $1300 plus.
If you are like me and can see DLP rainbows then I highly recommend this unit. The only somewhat negative about this unit is the fan can be heard when not in low power cinema mode but does not disturb viewing experience. In low power (cinema modes) unless unit is right by your ear you probably never know it's on. The high power mode is a little less noisy then a computer fan to give you some idea. If you have forced air heat (I do) then the air rushing from the ducts will make more noise then this PJ in high power mode. Could use a second HDMI input.
The picture quality and brightness is superb and you'll be very happy with the quality of this unit. You may also want to look at the Sanyo Plv z5 for it has good reviews but is much dimmer then this unit. In a light controlled room that should not be an issue. Reviews by the so called experts put this unit near the top of the LCD pack and Epson customer service is by far better then Panasonic. Sanyo I have never had to deal with so can't say .
This is one of the better 720p PJ's on the market at present and you'll be happy with the PQ of this unit.

The projector preforms very well. Picture quality is excellent. Easy to operate. With a ceiling mount and even though the projector has no lens shift I had no problem obtaining an image with no keystoning problems. Projector is extremely quiet. Very little fan noise. Switching between multiple input sources is easy. The projector is brighter that the one I replaced but I did expect it to be a little brighter that what it is. However brightness is very acceptable. Contrast is execellent.

I got this yesterday because I needed something small for the living room in our apartment. I set it up on the book shelf to shoot over the fireplace and it's impressive. The wall is flat white paint and I didn't want to hang a screen being in apartment and the picture looks great. It's brand new so I hope it will do well in the long run but for now I would recommend it.

ViewSonic PJ513DB DLP Projector - 5.7 Lbs Review

ViewSonic PJ513DB DLP Projector - 5.7 Lbs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We built a small movie theater in our basement and wanted a projector that could provide a good projected picture. After extensive research we elected to go with the ViewSonic PJ513DB DLP Projector, and we wern't dissapointed. It has an outstanding picture and the HD performance is the ultimate. It has a bright picture that is easy to see even when there is light in the room. The only drawback is that there is no HDMI input port. In order to get the HD we had to purchase an adapter cord that converted the HD cables to SVGA (ordered it off Amazon.com, cost us $8.00 and some change shipping included). The projector has many automated features including auto source selection so when you tune anything HD it automatically switches to the SVGA port and back again. It also automatically formats the picture size. I can't say enough about it! We are thoroughly satisfied! This projector does just as good a job as other units that are 4x the price.

Sharper Image Wonderwall Entertainment Projector Review

Sharper Image Wonderwall Entertainment Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As I chose to pick up this unit at Kohl's, I did so confident that no matter how low my expectations, this would probably disappoint me. Upon reading the limited reviews and board comments, I was convinced it would be bad. Therefore, I started testing the projector as soon as I brought it home. To my pleasant surprise, this device was actually really good.
First off, sound. The sound is actually pretty good. It does a mono sound, but at full volume, it was ok in a quite room. The sound could be heard clearly from another room. I could see it failing in a loud or crowded room, however it comes with a headphone jack. You can also plug certain external powered speakers into this jack to supplement the sound if you feel the need to.
Now more importantly, the video. I tested the video with two movies on my standard DVD player. In order to see the projector at it's best, I tested it on the simpsons, a high bright picture with low detail. It functioned splendidly. I shot the picture at close range (about three feet) to produce a 27'' TV equivalent. Then I shot it across the room, about 10 feet, and received about a 130 inch TV equivalent. The image was shot on a white wall for the three foot, and white drawn curtains for the 10 foot. I also ran it both with and without the lights on in the room. At three feet, the light on did very little to effect the image. At 10 feet, the image suffered substantially(grew paler), but seeing as how this is 4 feet and 60 inches bigger than even they recommend, I am still impressed. I have not tested this product during the day as of yet.
The simpsons was clear and crisp at both distances. It did have some blurring, which seemed to appear and go away, and was mot prevalent at the center of the screen. As another reviewer mentioned, the screen has crisscrosses on it, which is unavoidable. Anyone who has dealt with a slight amount of snow when watching TV has faced worse. The "crisscross" is simply dark lines that appear in a crisscross pattern across the image, which is a result of the low resolution of the screen. The larger the image, the larger the dark lines. I can't say it bothers me, it is solidly there and unchanging, and doesn't effect the picture (except perhaps making the image appear darker). And depending on the angle and distance you watch from, you can't even see the crisscrosses
The second movie I tested was Final Fantasy, spirit within, a detail orientated dark movie. I could say it was watchable at the 10 foot distance. The darks and lights didn't show very well, and significant detail is lost. At three feet, their was still a lot of lost detail, but the dark scenes show up a lot more clearly.
All in all, the projector works great. It has a moderately loud fan, but the sound more than makes up for it. It is a $100 projector, and everyone who gets it needs to keep that in mind. The bottom line is that if you are looking for an HDTV or hi res experience, this is not for you. If you are looking for a replacement living room TV, this is probably not for you. If you are looking for some portable tv replacement, or something that lets you watch tv on the ceiling or some other wierd area of your house at the drop of a dime. This would be great. This is great for snuggling up at night with some popcorn in a movie theater experience, or even outdoors in the backyard watching your favorite romantic comedy or something like that.
Simply put, know what you are getting, it works, as a toy. Like it says on its box, it is typically for video games (high contrast, low detail, bright colors), and thus works well for them. It is more than I expected, and in my opinion, well worth the money. And when the next level of projector is 6 times the price of this one, this is the closest any of us low income guys are going to get to owning our own projector to play with.
Update:
Please note that I did NOT review a sharper image wonderwall projector. It shows the same picture... It is NOT worth the price tag of $300 some dollars I see, I got it for less than $100, which is why my review was geared as such. I am not sure if amazon has messed up, or if the product got bought out by sharper image, but you could buy a high quality "real" projector for that price.

This projector is a very good choice for home entertainment as well as work in an office or in the lab [my case]. It is very bright even when operated in economy mode. The self adjusting feature is very good, like for instance the auto keystone. The menu is easy to navigate, and efficient. The lamp is good, and cheap. The projector is quiet, and doesn't get too hot while operating. The cover lid for the lamp is a good extra. The machine is light and very easy to carry with the provided bag.
The remote could be bigger with bigger buttons. The VGA cable is rather short but can be replaced with a 10ft super-VGA shielded video cable for about $20.
In essence, a must buy! Clear, bright and sharp images/videos at a very reasonable price. I had a DELL projector before and I regret I didn't trust EPSON to begin with!

ViewSonic PJ503DB DLP Projector Review

ViewSonic PJ503DB DLP Projector
Average Reviews:

If you're reading this while searching through page after page of digital projectors, wondering if you should take the plunge - then look no further.
The viewsonicpj503dp is a great place to stop looking. I was taken aback by the value and the quality of this product. I was looking for something multi-functional, as I have young children who watch movies tirelessly, I am a big video game fanatic and my living enviornment doesnt consist of alot of big open space. The flexibility and overall final product this projector delivers at its listed price, might have you shaking your head in disbelief at the price of some of those "top of the line" big screen TVs.
Want a bright picture ? 1500 Lumens. Which means to the layman that even in a room that has a few lights on, the picture this item delivers is very bright. Want a big screen experience ? At 19.4 feet this sucker throws a 150 inch viewable screen. Want the high-def feel ? 720p. Which is what people's hdtv recievers broadcast at for their hd televisions.
In addition to this, it has VGA input (computers and videogames), rca input (the yellow of the three red/white/yellow cords)and s-video input (high def recievers and dvd players). It doesnt even weigh five pounds, it's smaller than your cable box and after rebate it's not even four hundred bucks.
Still not convinced ? Viewsonic packs it with a two-year warranty, and a bulb that will last a whopping 2-3 THOUSAND hours if you run it in economy mode(which looks NO different than reguler mode if your wondering). With the cost of replacement bulbs in other machines reaching into the hundreds, a bulb that costs around sixty bucks and lasts that long is nothing to laugh at.
It doesnt have all the bells and whistles its higher priced brothers do, but who cares ! It's CHEAP. It's FLEXIBLE. It is a great bargain and I encourage you if you've read on this far to take my word for it and make this purchase. Oh, and if you're looking - I have been to about eight of Amazon's competitor sites to see if I could get it a few bucks cheaper and you can't. Amazon sells it twenty five bucks cheaper than everyone else.
Enjoy !

This is really an impressive little gadget. Quite easy to use, just plug it in to charge, turn it on and attach a device. I attached my iPhone and watched videos through iTunes and YouTube quite easily. On a wall, on a ceiling. There really needs to be very little ambient lighting though. But when it's dark, really a pretty sharp picture for the size of the thing and its resolution. And I was especially impressed by the sound given the tiny size of the speaker.
My only complaint is a lack of documentation. The box came with a "quick start guide" which told you very little beyond how to charge it and a couple of other notes and one "sample" configuration. That's it, and there doesn't seem to be any more documentation online. But given how relatively easy to use it is, this is a minor quibble.

I liked the price of course and I was attracted to the LED feature with it's lower power consumption, quiet opperation and long bulb life. The Problem are that this unit is so stripped down in regards to features you wonte be able to use it with very much versatility. I bought one specifically to hook up to a laptop and project the computer image.............Nope. It don't do that. I did hook up an old VCR just to make sure it worked. It does work but not very well. Picture quality is dull and not very vivid at all. There is also an annoying pattern that is visable and reminds me of the dot pattern you see when you look at a magazine photo through a magnifying glass. I desperatly want to brighten up the picture but there is no control for that. All and all I think I can say that I don't think I'll get much use out of this unit. The concept is good but that's about as far as it goes. The picture is simply not clean enough for anyone who is trying to duplicate a television quality image in a larger version........ How do I send this thing back?

It has a lot of nice Features for the price and most importantly the picture it provides is fantastic . now this is not some $1500 - $4000 projector so dont expect the same picture your gona get out of a 1080p LCD , LED or Plasma TV but it certinly holds its own . it has both a 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio but only will project 16:9 in and through HDMI. i dont know why it wont support it through HD/AV cables . i use it for both my PS3 and 360 and games and blu ray movies. they play and work great on it . you get a nice bright and vibrant picture out of this unit espicialy in darkness . it looks pretty good with just alittle bit of light but like most projectors the darker the better . it has a 1800 lumins lens . now if you dont know if 1800 is good or not . its considered that 1500 is good and 2000 is great .
i would have given this projector 4 1/2 stars if i could . what holds it from being 5 stars are a few things . it is alittle noisy but not annoyingly bad . i never really notice the noise it makes after 2 min but some people may be abit more picky then me . The menue navigation is abit of a pain though espicialy with the remote . it also has what most LCD projectors produce as well the " screen window " which means what it sounds like but this is only ever noticable if you are close to the screen like with in 7-8 feet and i sit 14 feet away from the screen and have it projected at 100" which is the max recomended size and i dont see it . the most annoying thing is the instruction manuel ... i mean who wrote this thing a cave man !? its not very helpful very vague . i will give you one of the lines from this thing . "When the thunder happen or long time no use , please pull the power cable out of projector" i mean i got some laughs out of it atleast . just dont expect the manuel to give you much help.
also make sure you have a surround sound system for this thing the audio out of the projector is pretty bad .
In the end though for a $320 projector this is a great deal if i paid $600 or $700 i wouldn't feel like i got ripped off one bit . so if you are lookin to build a nice home theater system i would highly recomend the HTP LCD Projector if you dont wana break the bank . i built mine for $700 when u include the projector , 100" screen , Sony bravia Surround sound and a few odds and ends things like cables . I deffinitly feel like i have the movie expericance in my house and every one els who has seen it says the same thing.

We were amazed at the picture quality and function of this unit. Compare to the "name Brand" Units that retail anywhere from $599-$1500 and you won't believe that you get the same performance all for just over $300! Could not be happier with the unit! It is an LCD projector so you must have dim to dark lighting conditions to view in. So Not good if you need it for meetings and presentations in light rooms? For that you will have to pony up a couple hundred more $$$ and buy DLP technology. But if your looking for Movies, Big Screen, Gaming in the basement, media room or just dim to dark room, this is a great unit for you!

Get name brand performance for half the price. So much better for just a little more $ You can't go wrong with this projector for movie night, Gaming, Sports etc. My buddy was steaming after I tested this unit in his theater room. He paid Three times as much for his Big name unit he paid $2,200 at a big box store and he couldn't tell the difference! Image through HDMI is INCREDIBLE! Great for Educational and Presentation purposes as long as you can dim the lights.

Optoma DS317 2600 Lumen SVGA DLP Multimedia Projector Review

Optoma DS317 2600 Lumen SVGA DLP Multimedia Projector
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Optoma DS317 DLP Multimedia Projector lives up to its marketing materials. It is simple and easy to use, projects a clear image in small or medium-sized rooms and has the lumens to be seen in a moderately bright room. (I haven't tried it in a large hall yet). The price is fantastic for small business owners, teachers and others who have to operate on a tight budget, yet you still get more than you paid for. People who travel light may find that its 11"l x 8"w x 3.5"h size is a little large for them, however I found that it fits very well in a wheeled backpack-style carrier, fitting nicely right along with my laptop. A small downside, the projector relies on an "on-screen command" to adjust the size of the image on the wall rather than an easy to use slide or roller wheel. That is a small matter and not a big detractor. The lense cap has very small pronged clips and I wonder how long they're going to last. Let's end on a positive: the fan system is excellent and cools the projector quickly after power off.
This is a great multimedia projector and I recommend it for anyone with basic business and education projection needs. It may be great for entertainment and home theater, however I haven't put it through those paces. I suspect it would do quite well.

1080i HD Home Theater Video Projector, HDMI DVD Blue Ray Wii Ps3 Xbox PC Review

My wife bought this as an anniversary gift. Although it is a no name product, it works very well. The picture looks great. I attached my laptop and used the HDMI port. It won't change over to 16:9 with HDMI. The only way that I got 16:9 was the computer putting the movie in letterbox. When I hook it up to a BluRay player, I have no option on the projector for 16:9. It cuts off the sides to maintain 4:3. OnVon, the maker of the projector, gave up trying to help me. They don't see it as a problem. They just stopped answering my emails.

ViewSonic PJD5122 SVGA DLP Projector -120Hz/3D Ready, 2500 Lumens, 3000:1 DCR Review

Folks, I have never written a review on Amazon before, but felt I really owed it to you all for this particular item. In a word, the ViewSonic PJD5122 is awesome! I've always been a fan of ViewSonic, since the early days when they made what were considered to be the best value CRT monitors for the price. This unit is no different.
Most importantly, the thing that had me waffling about buying this projector, over a truly HD model for twice the price, was whether or not it would project the Xbox 360 output in 16:9. This is important as we are also using the Xbox as a DVD movie player. Well, the projector DOES output in 16:9! This is the way we watch movies at my sisters house and I barely miss going to the theater. That was my sticking point and I wasn't sure about this until we got it and powered it up. Now, because I am a nice guy, all of you know this. Special Note: YOU WILL NEED THE XBOX 360 (S)VGA OUTPUT CABLES... they run about $40 and I would spring for the official Microsoft ones as people were having trouble with off brands, according to my research.
Now, a caveat: Some of you want 1080p. If you have a blue-ray player, or you expect to see the texture in Halo Master Chief's gloves, well, this isn't for you. I didn't care about 1080p. I am not going to start buying Blue-Ray just yet, so I am not really unhappy using anything more than 720p HD. This is not only good enough for me, it is BETTER than good enough. If you want a big screen gaming experience on a tight budget... then HOLY COW does this thing deliver. It is bright, crisp and the colors are gorgeous, even in a well lit room! I game during the day sometimes and it is nice not to have to blacken out the windows with spray paint. :)
I bought one of these about six months ago as a gift that I also would use when staying at a relatives house. They use it for movies, I use it to game when everyone goes to sleep. We even built our own screen using "Parkland Plastics Polywall". We love that set up. Anyway, I am SO HAPPY with the output of the Xbox 360 on this projector that I am going to now purchase ANOTHER ONE for my own home theater / gaming room.
Buy with confidence, people. This is among the best purchases I have ever made for home entertainment and I saved a TON.
